Cyclocross bikes are some of the most versatile and durable bikes on the road (and even off). These bikes are heavier than road bikes, but lighter than touring bikes. They feature longer wheelbases, a taller bottom bracket (for mud clearance), and longer chainstays. Tires are 30-40mm wide with knobs for grip. A cyclocross bike can hit a trail as well as the road, making it an excellent commuter bike.
While the Giant AnyRoad (pictured left) is not a Cyclocross specific bike, it is a great bike on a variety of roads. Stop in to see our selection of Cyclocross bikes, including the Giant AnyRoad 1. And stay tuned for next month where we will talk about endurance road bikes.

When you are out on the trail or road and have a flat tire, there are several ways to take care of it. For some, a phone used to call a friend is their best practice. But sometimes you are stuck where it is too far for someone to come and get you, or you will have to wait too long. If you need to air up, 2 options are the portable pump, or CO2 cartridges. Want to be better prepared for flats? Read this helpful intro to CO2 cartridges. |

Many of you know the Big Ride is coming up in July. And it’s coming through Hiawatha! There will be lots of riders that join for a few days. That is a lot of bikes to get ready for riding.
That is in July, but you will want to be riding and getting those miles in before July. Think about bringing your bike in for the tune-up specials now! When the weather warms up, you’ll want to be RIDING on your bike, not WAITING for your bike to be tuned up.
Service is recommended once a year generally, but it does depend on how often you ride your bike. Even a bike that has not been ridden can use a tune-up as cables change, tires get older, brake pads wear. I rode into work one day and a mechanic looked at my bike and said…hey…your headset is rough…you might need some bearings. Sure enough, I did need new bearings.
Moral of the story: Don’t wait until you want to train for the Big Ride, or the first 65 degree sunny day. Take advantage of our Tune-up specials that last through February 28th. |
