Facebook News Feed Changes?

Facebook, Other, Social Media|Comments Off on Facebook News Feed Changes?

In the biggest news since the Facebook News Feed was introduced, the social network is contemplating testing a revamp that would reorganize your feed. What do Facebook News Feed Changes mean for you? Read more to find out how you might be affected, and how the Team at ENews Networks can help.

About the new layout

FB News Feed Changes

Facebook is testing a new layout on mobile devices that section your news feed by highlighting multiple news sections. Highlights include World News, U.S. News, Sports, Food, Animals, and more. The primary section will remain the same. Highlighted sections will be accessible by tapping or swiping left or right. Then all news updates related to that topic appear. Users could also remove sections that they have no interest in.

About the launch

While Facebook has confirmed it's testing these News Feed changes, the launch date has remained unconfirmed.

What does this mean for you?

The good news is that this approach organizes information, and shows users the news they want to see. It would likely encourage users to get more news from Facebook, rather than alternative sources.

Facebook Rolls out Universal Search

Advertising, Facebook, Facebook retargeting, Other, Social Media|Comments Off on Facebook Rolls out Universal Search

Facebook Rolls out Universal Search this fall, allowing people to explore all public posts on the world's largest social network: 2 trillion pieces of searchable content.

Facebook Vice President of Search Tom Stocky explains, "when something happens in the world, people often turn to Facebook to see how their friends and family are reacting. Today, we’re updating Facebook Search so that in addition to friends and family, you can find out what the world is saying about topics that matter to you."

What's included?

  • Better search suggestions:

When you tap into the search box and start typing, they now offer timely, personalized search suggestions.

  • Search public posts and posts from friends:

When you search, you’ll see the most recent public posts along with posts from your friends.

  • Find public conversations:

Use one tap to find public posts about a link, see popular quotes, and check out the opposing views.

What's in it for them? Search is a money maker for Facebook, providing a great place to sell advertising. Facebook users now make an estimated 1.5 billion searches every day. This also ups their competition with Twitter, providing an instant result on what others are saying on any given topic.

What's unique about it? Facebook isn't providing you with a raw feed of results. Facebook knows details about you and customizes your searches to your known preferences (known trusted sources as well as people in your network).

What should you know? Double check your security settings each time you post. The world is watching!
